About Department

The department of Mechatronics has started by the Institute from A.Y. 2020-21 with a UG program of intake capacity of 60 and PG program of intake 12. This program is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Affiliated to the DBATU, Lonere.

Mechatronics Engineering is a multidisciplinary program that combines mechanical, electrical, and computing technology with automated control and information systems, preparing students for a top career in the engineering, design, and manufacturing industries.

In today’s world mechatronic products and systems are all around us; such as the modern auto focus camera, washing machines with electronic controls, printing and photocopy machines etc. Modern automobiles have several mechatronic systems such as electric power assisted steering, engine management system, cruise control etc. Mechatronic systems such as medical diagnostic scanners, surgical assistant robots etc. are being increasingly used.

Apart from direct application in product design, mechatronics has also created opportunities in intelligent manufacturing. Servo and process level controllers control the process parameters whereas supervisory control can be used to control

plant output parameters. CNC machines and robots used in modern factories improve both the flexibility of manufacturing system as well as the product quality. Intelligent automatic inspection systems help in reducing human intervention resulting in lower lifecycle cost and higher quality.

Mechatronics Engineers would be able to creatively solve real life problems with an interdisciplinary approach.
Mechatronics Engineers work in all aspects of the development of smart machines – from design and testing right through to manufacture. This could be in industries like robotics, medical and assistive technology, human-machine interaction, manufacturing, unmanned aerial and ground vehicles, and education.

Key Features :
  • Laboratories with ‘state of the art’ equipment.
  • System modeling and simulation software.
  • Application based lab exercises.

QUALITY POLICY

Department of Mechatronics Engineering is committed to impartvalue based education to produce socially responsible professionalsby promoting research, innovation, entrepreneurship and training in Mechatronics engineering and allied domains.

LONG TERM GOAL

  1. To be a preferred department in Maharashtra.
  2. To promote and facilitate resources to faculty and students for acquiring a dedicated teaching-learning and research culture.
  3. To strive for 100% students’ placement
  4. To achieve maximum student success ratio by zero percent failure.

  5. To motivate & encourage students for better performance in competitive exams for higher studies.
  6. Encourage to establish startups.

What is Mechatronic Engineering?

Mechatronic Engineering combines the fundamentals of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science to develop autonomous systems. A Mechatronic Engineer designs smart machines and systems that are aware of their environment, and can processing information to make decisions.

Work profiles for mechatronics engineers:

Mechatronics engineers know both mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals.

They work with massive industrial robots, smaller robots in pick-and-place operations, control systems for bottling or packaging of food and drink products, drones, designing control systems for rides in amusement parks, prototype development.

  • Mechatronics engineers are employed in firms where it is necessary to design and maintain automatic equipment. This includes industries such as manufacturing, mining, aviation, robotics, defence and transport.
  • Mechatronic engineers are employed by large manufacturing companies involved in high-volume production.
  • Mechatronic engineers  apply electronic and mechanical processes and computers to tasks where the use of human labour may be dangerous (for example, underwater exploration, mining, or forestry).
  • Many new career opportunities are on the horizon due to technological advances.

What careers are there in mechatronics?

A degree in mechatronics can lead to management positions, including project management. Workplaces range from laboratories and processing plants to engineering design offices.

Mechatronics engineers work in the fields of cyber security, telecommunications, computer science, automotive engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, and consumer products and packaging. Mechatronic specialists may use the following job titles:

  • Automotive Engineer
  • Control System Engineer
  • Data Logging Engineer
  • Instrumentation Engineer
  • Project Engineer
  • Software Engineer
  • Systems Engineer

The demand for engineers with experience and knowledge of computing, robotics and engineering principles continues to grow as industries evolve. Examples of industries and jobs mechatronics engineers can work in include:

  • Automation
  • Robotics
  • Computer simulations and modelling
  • Engineering design
  • Propulsion systems
